Frequently Asked Questions
  • The high school student research & review journals are published once per quarter. Our fall issue will be released on December 21. Our winter issue will be released on March 15, and our spring issue will be released on June 15. Our summer issue will be released on September 15.

  • The fall issue submission deadline is October 5. The winter issue deadline is January 5, the spring deadline is April 5, and the summer deadline is July 5.

  • You will receive an 80% refund if your paper is rejected for most reasons, to account for the time our editors spend reviewing your article. HOWEVER, if your paper is rejected because any portion of it was generated by AI, we will not refund you the submission fee.

  • Right now, we’re offering a $20 Amazon Gift Card for each friend you refer to our journal! They will simply list your name in their submission form and we will credit you for referring them. There is no limit to the number of friends you can refer. We are also beginning an Author Spotlight Award, where one author will be highlighted in the quarterly issue of each journal based on their article and future goals.

  • We accept research or literature review articles across a variety of topics. When submitting, please select the journal that is most relevant to your work. The journal options are:

    • New Frontiers in Biology, Medicine, & Chemistry (NFBMC)

    • Journal of Novel Mathematical Advances (JNMA)

    • Education & Public Health in a Changing World (EPHCW)

    • Environment, Ecology, & Earth Protections (EEEP)

    • Investigations of History & Society (IHS)

    • Nanotechnology & Physical Sciences Quarterly (NPSQ)

We will be adding more journals in the upcoming year!

  • To submit, you must be a high school student over the age of 14 and your article must have been written before you started your undergraduate studies. Submitting work you wrote in the summer after your senior year of high school is acceptable, but you cannot submit if you were actively enrolled and taking classes full-time at a college or university at the time you wrote your article.

  • Students can submit their work online to one of the PRESS Journals. This requires three steps. 1. Your parent or guardian should purchase a submission fee on the website. 2. You should fill out our submission form with your name and email, your parent or guardian’s email, and the other required fields. 3. You will receive our detailed submission form in your email inbox, which is where you will upload your article, figures, key words, etc.

If an article is accepted, the paper will then be sent to other students for peer review. Students will be notified within two weeks of the submission deadline whether their article has been accepted, and can list this provisional acceptance on their college applications. An expedited processing option is also available for students who wish to know their acceptance status sooner than the next submission deadline. Once a student is notified of their article’s acceptance, they will also be required to review the papers of three other students. After editing these other papers, they will submit their edits for those students and receive edits back on their own work. Once the students have incorporated these edits, they will resubmit their paper for publication. Papers will then be published in the seasonal issue of the journal they chose as most relevant to their work.

  • Your article will be sent to two other students for feedback. Students will provide inline comments on the article, as well as broad feedback surrounding the hypothesis or question, areas of further research, and any restructuring that may be required. You will read the comments from both reviewers and then incorporate them into your article before you resubmit it for publication.

  • There is no limit to the number of articles we accept for each issue.

  • We offer a high acceptance rate due to the peer review aspect of our journal - even a paper that isn’t fully ready for publication upon its initial submission can be brought up to a higher caliber through the peer review process.

  • You can write on your applications that your article has been “provisionally accepted,” and that it will be published on the date specified on the website. If your application deadlines are approaching soon, consider our expedited processing option so that you can learn sooner whether your article has been accepted.

  • Your article will be rejected if we determine that ANY portion of it was generated by AI. Your article will also be rejected if we detect any plagiarism or if it has been submitted to another journal for publication at the same time. Finally, your article will be rejected if it does not follow our submission guidelines for formatting or reference citations.

  • If your article is rejected, you can book a session with one of our editors to discuss the reasons it was rejected. You can then address these issues and resubmit at no cost. If you do not book a session with our editors, you can adjust your article and resubmit, but you will need to pay the submission fee again.

  • If you don’t finish your peer reviewing on time, your article will not be published. You will need to pay a late fee in order for it to be considered for the journal issue that will be published the following season.

  • If you don’t submit your revised article on time, your article will not be published. You will need to pay a late fee in order for it to be considered for the journal issue that will be published the following season.
